What is the Rapaport Investment Diamond Certificate (RDC™)?
The Rapaport Investment Diamond Certificate guarantees the quality of the diamond. It is only granted for premium diamonds that meet stringent Rapaport gemological and investment grade standards. It ensures the diamond is of the finest quality and has enhanced market liquidity. All Rapaport Investment Grade Diamond are double tested, as they include an additional independent GIA diamond grading report. The The Investment Diamond Certificate will only be issued for stones that meet Rapaport’s strict specifications as the best quality.
What is the difference between a Grading Report and an Investment Diamond Certificate?
A Grading Report is an opinion about the diamond based on internationally recognized parameters. A Rapaport investment Diamond Certificate is a guarantee that the stone is within investment grade standards.
What are the minimal submission requirements for an Investment Diamond Certificate?
The stone needs to have the following specifications:
- Shape: Round Brilliant
- Size: 0.50 carat and larger
- Color: D-H
- Clarity: IF-VS2
- Meets RapSpec Specifications
- An accompanying GIA grading report issued within the past two years
Does Rapaport issue Investment Diamond certificates for stones graded by labs other than GIA?
Currently, only for GIA graded stones will be issued an Investment Diamond Certificate.

There is only one unique type of Rapaport certificate for Investment grade diamonds.
What is the rejection fee of a stone that is submitted for certification but didn’t qualify?
There is no charge for diamonds submitted unless they receive the certification.
